In a meanwhile, I got follow-up news about Great Wall of China.
According to JiJi news dated on October 1st, there seemed to be a lot of criticisms from major Chinese newspapers and citizens against the authority about the horrible restoration job for Great Wall of China. On October 27, the authority admitted using a little bit of concrete for the restoration and announced, at a public interview, to punish the man in charge of the job.
The restoration job was done from 2013 till 2014. At first, the authority was announcing that there was no problem with the job, but suddenly on October 27, the authority had changed its attitude because overwhelming number of complaints and criticisms blasted at the authority, according to JiJi news. Hahaha.
You see, I posted this news on October 25 in my blog. That day and the following day, the number of visiting my blog shot up the roof! Haha.
I said on October 25, that Chinese people, including the authority, didn’t understand the value of historical architectures. According to the authority, the reason why Great Wall of China crumbled or vanished at many places was because local Chinese people have been stealing the bricks to sell or to build their houses. Hahaha.
In 2006, Chinese government made a regulation to ban people from stealing the bricks but still people kept stealing them.
Now people in Japan are speculating that the reason for the authority applied thick layer of concrete on the top of the wall might be for the purpose of preventing Chinese people from stealing the bricks. Hahaha.
Even if the authority restored Great Wall of China back to exactly the same original condition, the local Chinese people would start stealing the bricks again. Sure! Everybody wants brand new bricks for free! Hahaha. So applying the thick layer of concrete on top of Great Wall of China might be the best the authority could do about it.
Depending on each country, national character varies so does the solution.
