The funniest news just came in from China.
I’m going to change my schedule and talk about this news today.
What’s coming to your mind when you think of the symbol of historical Chinese architecture? Great Wall of China, right?
Great Wall of China is not only their national treasure, but is also registered at World Treasure (Heritage).
The biggest concerned for China was about 8 km (5 miles) of the wall was crumbling and had a bumpy surface to walk on. So Great Chinese government decided to restore it back to its original so that they could expect more tourists.
Well, just several days ago, China had proudly announced the completion of the restoration work.
What do you think? Hahaha.
On the left side is the original Great Wall of China. You can see it was made of rectangular bricks and it has walls on both sides. The wall facing west is higher than the other. It was designed to prevent invasion from Mongolia so that the wall has grooves at regular intervals from which Chinese soldiers were to shoot an arrow with a bow aiming at the enemies down there.
What do you think on the right side of the images? It is totally different shape from the original. Hahaha. It no longer has walls. Hahaha.
Just a cheap looking concrete road totally exposed in plain view to the enemy. Hahaha. You can’t feel any history even if you visit the historical architecture of China because it has nothing to do with its history but whole new fabricated architecture. They don’t understand the definition of restoration. It was supposed to restore them back to its original shape but they created a whole new architecture extinguishing the original shape and history. Hahaha.
And did I mention that this was a world treasure? Hahaha.
This is the typical national character you find among Chinese and Koreans. It’s a very inaccurate and sloppy job. And both Chinese and Koreans don’t even care about the value of their history at all because they have been constantly fabricating their history that they no longer care about their past and history. Chinese and Korean people think history is something to be created or fabricated so that the facts are unnecessary to be preserved.

Let me show you a case of South Korea.
Please see the 2nd image attached below. South Great Gate was one of the few historical architectures in South Korea. So when Japan merged with South Korea, Japan cleaned up South Great Gate. You can see, on the left side, South Great Gate before the annexation. There were no beautifully structured houses even in the capital city of South Korea but only straw houses.
These are the painting art on the ceiling of South Great Gate.
In 2013, South Korea showed off the restored image in public. However, the restored image made Japanese people laugh to death! It was totally different from the original. Hahaha.
It turned out to be different color, different shape, and different design. It was a whole new image created in 2013.
Restoration job has to be precise and accurate to the original because the purpose of restoration is to succeed its original art and history intact, but they used vivid color paint which didn’t exist in the old time. And look at the eyes of dragon. The original dragon has the menacing look with piercing eyes whereas the restored dragon has as cute and lovely eyes as puppy’s. Hahaha.
These types of sloppy jobs by Chinese and Koreans are unimaginable in Japan. Japanese culture emphasizes precision, accuracy, and perfection. If Japan did the same restoration, first thing Japan did would be scanning the original image because the picture of the original art was available. That way, there would be no inaccurate restoration job.
This is not racism but a difference of culture and national character.
When Japanese people assign a job to South Korea and China, Chinese and Korean people always do sloppy jobs so Japanese people always have to go visit China or South Korea and supervise their works.
I think these kinds of news exposing the differences of national character are not reported in English. That’s why people in the world tend to misunderstand that East Asian are the same or resembling. Only we East Asians know that we are totally different from one another.
