 I am working on “Unlocking the mystery of Japan Part-4” now. And I almost finished but I need to do some works more.
In a meanwhile, I will show you “Only in Japan” again.

A Japanese traditional style hotel is called “Ryokan” and you can enjoy very good Japanese cuisine for cheap price. You can see the attached pictures how the cuisine is being served. This serving style was developed since nearly 1,000 years ago when Sho-gun, who was dominating the region with a castle, was served with his meal.

You can enjoy feeling like you are Sho-gun being served with a dinner in traditional style but the recipe itself is being modernized.

And did you know even how to eat meal is culturally different in East Asia?

Japanese and Taiwanese, both are islanders, share the same manner holding a bowl or small dish with a hand when eating, but Chinese and Koreans don’t.
And Korean people are the only people eat steamed rice with a spoon in East Asia.

 Only in Japan

 You never can find the same beauty in South Korea and China. It is confusing for South Korean and Chinese people  why Japan is 100% different from them.
There is a reason for everything.  I will explain that for Chinese and South Koreans and all people who have an interest in East Asia in my blog.
There is a critical difference between Japan and those China and South Korea.

Japan has four seasons. And now Japan is in the middle of fall season. All leaves turn into red and yellow. It's beautiful and the best season for touring Japan.
You can't find this kind of beauty in South Korea and China. This is historical and cultural difference. Japanese culture is very different from Korea and China. None of these beauties exists in South Korea and China.
I will explain why only Japan is totally different from South Korea and China soon.

You know, people in Japan are not good at English including myself but this caricature is being passed around in Japanese web community now and Japanese people are all laughing because this reminds us of the same kind of people in Japan who raise "Love and Peace! No racism!" but are as violent as they are in the US. Although those who raise "Love and peace" in Japan are (hatred based) anti-Japanese Korean pedigree. There are a lot of hypocrites. And those hypocrites don't even notice their discrepancy because they are very emotional. They easily lose their temper and their rational. And that condition is called "Hwabyeong".

This time, I’m going to explain an interesting thing about Japanese, Chinese, and Koreans quoting web news.

This writing might help ignorant people understand about East Asians.

Last time I wrote the latest news about cheating on an exam by Koreans and Chinese. There’s another follow-up news and I found the way the news was reported in a very interesting style which I haven’t found in English news.

First, let me explain the follow-up news.

The number one Korean newspaper “Chosun Nilbo” again wrote in its editorial on November 13.

The title is “Listen Koreans! We’ll not be cheated again anymore!”

I will roughly translate the article below.

It is embarrassing for us to know that South Korea is known for the world leader of cheating country. It is still fresh memory to us in June of this year, ACT test was called off due to the outflow of the examination paper.

In 2010, police began investigating the outflow of the examination paper. And in 2007, Korean people took ACT test in Thailand then after returning to South Korea, they spread the examination questions before ACT test was held in South Korea. At that time, 700 Korean examinee’s test scores got invalidated.

One of men who run private supplementary schools in South Korea confessed to me the reason why South Korea is the world leader of cheating. He said it was because there were a lot of parents willing to pay money for buying the examination paper and also the people running the private supplementary schools were willing to sell the examination questions for money.

On November 8, Chosun Nilbo, which is the number one Korean newspaper, posted a picture of a suitcase which was tightly clasped by steel wire with a lock.

The organization, which handles various examinations of the US, began to send the examination papers in the suitcase tightly clasped by a wire with a lock only to South Korea. All other countries are still sent the examination papers in a cardboard box. As I look at the suitcase with a lock, it seems to me as though it is saying “Listen Koreans! We’ll not be cheated again anymore!”

Do you think that is discrimination or racism? The special treatment arranged only for South Korean people? People are different by nationality. And recognizing the difference by nationality is not the act of racism. And it is important for anyone to have an attitude of learning the differences of people by nationality because each country has a different common sense and standard.

In China, SAT test was called off last year and two years ago also.

I found a very well said article about Chinese people’s mentality of committing cheating.

It is an article reported in 2015 by Sankei web news, which is a Japanese newspaper.

Sankei news quoted the article published by CNN news and explained why despite a lot of criticisms by the world, Chinese people never stop cheating.

It introduced the voice of Chinese person involved in education. “For Chinese people, an examination is like a game of winning or losing so cheating an examination is recognized as within the acts of fair play, therefore, no Chinese people think committing cheating is a shame.”

I think this is the same reason for Koreans.

Depending on each country, people have a different take on the same issue.That’s why Koreans oftentimes commit cheating and nasty play during sports also because they don’t think it is unfair or nasty as opposed to we do. And that’s the reason why Japanese people can’t get along with Chinese and Koreans because everything is polar opposite. Japanese people say “Cheating is nasty and low!” but Chinese and Koreans say “Cheating is fair-play!” Two opposite opinions can never come to reach agreement.

This is the reason why it is important not only for us but also for you to know the reason and learn the reason of differences by nationality instead of generalizing East Asians.

I am not saying all Chinese and Koreans are cheaters. There are many Chinese and Koreans who earnestly learn and take an exam without cheating. There will be nasty cheaters among Japanese people too. But I think it is important to know the differences by nationality before quoting the exceptional case. There is a reason for why people do this and that. It all comes from their common sense and standard by their nationality.

I found an interesting editorial written by a native South Korean writer from Hangyore news, which is a Korean newspaper, dated November 18..

The title is “What is Japan for South Korea?”

The Korean writer lives in Tokyo and can write perfect Japanese is describing about Japan as below.

“For Korean people, Japan is geographically close but at the same time very far away from us in many meanings. Japan is adjacent to us but a little scary. And it’s impossible for us to understand.”

See, even after living in Japan and becoming fluent in Japanese language, Korean people can’t understand Japanese people at all because the difference is just too huge to accept for them.

It is not the issue of language barrier that is hindering the relationship between Japanese and Koreans but the way of thinking and common sense. Therefore, after mastering Japanese language, what Korean people find out is a huge difference in the way of thinking that makes them flabbergasted. They just can't find even one single similarity between Japanese and Korean people.

That’s why I always warn ignorant people that they need to separate Japanese people from Chinese and Koreans in their heads because the difference is really huge.

And did you notice the way news was reported in East Asia was different from your country? If it is English news, it just simply reports what happened. That’s it. But in East Asia, after reporting the news, oftentimes the writers explain why Chinese and Korean people do this and that because the national character and common sense of Chinese and South Koreans are just too different from Japanese so that Japanese people get ended up in confusion after reading news about China and South Korea if there wasn’t any explanation about the differences of common sense and national character.

For the last, let me show you a very interesting opinion about Japanese, Chinese, and Koreans by American girl who lives in Japan.

Until I lived in Asia, I can honestly say I didn’t know the major differences between Japan, Korea, and China. I realize that’s extremely narrow-minded of me but since living in Japan, I’ve grown a lot because of having to make such a drastic change in my mindset about these countries.

However, after talking to family and friends in America as well as my ESL students around the world, I’ve come to understand that I am not alone in my confusion between the three races.

When you first live in Japan, it’s very important to understand the differences between Japanese and other Asian cultures. Once you can understand them better, you start to see why Japanese live life the way they do; and it, in turn, makes living in Japan a much more fulfilling experience.

Here are just a few of the many differences I noticed between Japanese, Chinese, and Korean culture to help you separate them in your mind, and hopefully gain more respect for each one individually.

The latest news from New York. Japanese president Abe visited Trump Tower to meet Mr Trump today.
It was Mr. Trump's request to have a meeting with only small number of people so Abe brought himself with only one interpreter.
It is said that it was an unusual case for Japanese Prime Minister to meet anyone who hadn't assumed president yet.
 After one and half hour meeting, President Abe said before the media "I've confirmed he is a trustworthy leader" But he didn't give small details about what he talked about with Mr. Trump since it was an unofficial meeting.
Abe is on his way to APEC which will be held in Peru tomorrow.

The sinkhole appeared about 10 days ago in Fukuoka prefecture which is a southern part of Japan. And only after seven days the construction began, it's got back to the original condition!
They say that it usually takes months to complete this size of job.
They did a good job.

 Congratulation to American people! Donald Trump was elected for the president of US.

Well, I can hear many people say “Don’t congratulate!’ though. Hahaha.

The new era has come when people can recognize the differences of people.

I have mentioned in my blog again and again about “The View of Good” and “The View of Bad” before.

Both Japanese and American people have “The View of Good”. The View of Good is a belief that people are fundamentally good. And all people are as good mindsets as ours.

This is a very childish, ridiculous, and ignorant belief that they can’t look at reality or they are childishly refusing to accept reality in fear of knowing the differences.

Those childish people would like to think that all people are the same. And as long as there is no difference, there will be no conflict. That’s their logic behind for rejecting to accept the reality (or differences). It’s a very ridiculous and ignorant idea.

Those people, who can look at reality and can recognize the differences of people, are able to prepare for what the particular type of people will think and do so that they can avoid a trouble and conflict. See? Both the former and latter have the same goal to avoid a trouble but their approaches are opposite.

The former is like driving a vehicle with their eyes blind-folded and thinking that everything is going to be all right. The latter is like driving a vehicle watching out carefully on the road while trying to never avert their eyes away from the reality.

Mr. Donald Trump is the latter type. And I think he is very smart.

In the beginning stage, President Trump may look to be extreme in his policy but it is all because US presidents have been leaning toward The View of Good too much before. The more you lean toward The View of Good (idealism), the more you become gullible and stupid ignoring the reality. And that condition is really convenient for those who are from a country of cheaters in hopes of taking advantage of your stupidity and ignorance. But I think President Trump will adjust his policy after a while. It will go extreme first, then it will swing backward but it will never be the same condition as before because people learn from making mistakes. They’ll be no longer as stupid and ignorant as they were before. That’s exactly what happened in Japan.

Japanese people are fundamentally gullible and stupid due to their belief of ‘The View of Good’.

I am not a racist. Oftentimes people misunderstand that people who can recognize the differences of people by nationality are racists. You don’t necessarily need to have hatred after knowing the differences. But you’ll become smart enough to deal with the problems you face because you know the differences of people so you can come up with a solution.

Many experts and scholars including native South Korean university professor ‘Oh Sonfa’ are pointing out the differences of people by nationality. And you know what Ms. Oh Sonfa advises to Japanese people? She says “Don’t help but stay away from Koreans”. Hahaha.

Professor of Tsukuba University, which is one of the high level universities in Japan, Hiroshi Furuta proposed a way to deal with Koreans a few years ago and got tremendous attention in Japan. He experienced living in South Korea for six years since 1980 as a Japanese language teacher. And he knows quite a lot about Koreans and wrote many books.

What he proposed was ‘The Three principles’. ‘Don’t help’, ‘Don’t teach (give)’, and ‘Don’t have any businesses’. This proposal made a lot of Japanese people laugh to death including myself but he made a lot of points. His proposal was a solution for the problems between Japanese and Koreans after analyzing the differences of common sense and standard in each country. What Japanese people do for Koreans, while thinking that Koreans will be pleased, often time can be taken for an opposite meaning by Koreans because Koreans don’t have any common sense and standard Japanese people do. Professor Furuta was simply pointing out that there was absolutely no similarity between Japanese and Korean people at all. So Japanese people shouldn’t approach Korean people with a wrong idea “We are the same humans and share the same value and feelings”

The stance is letting go your own common sense and standard. If you can’t let go of your standard, then that’s because you are arrogantly thinking your standard is the best and unconditional throughout the whole world but it’s not working in reality.

People in the US think that democracy is the best system and all people will agree with them. But when you look at Philippine, they adapted democracy but the current president of Philippine hates America. There will be many reasons for that. I will never know but only Filipinos do. Philippine had been a colony of the US for about 150 years until the end of 2nd World War. Japan made Philippine become independent from the US. That’s why a lot of Filipinos prefer Japanese people over Americans.

And not to mention the issue of Islam, America’s idealism is not working out. Then why, out of many cases, Japan is a rare successful case for America, despite the fact Japan was a former enemy and received two nuke bombs, which were first time ever used against humans, from the US? Well, that’s the difference of people I’ve been explaining here in my blog. The answer for that all comes from the difference of people in each country.

Japanese people think that American people are fundamentally good people as Japanese people are which thought comes from The View of Good. That’s why there has never been any hostility and grudges held against Americans by Japanese people even immediately after the end of 2n World War.

But the thought of The View of Good has never existed in North and South Korea and China. You need to know this difference even before talking anything about East Asia.

You will have more and more Chinese and South Korean immigrants in your country just like here in Japan, but you need to know that they are 100% different from Japanese people.

Westerners tend to pay attention to Japanese people trying to figure out East Asians but the more you look at Japanese people the more you end up only misunderstanding East Asians because Japanese people are 100% different from Chinese and Koreans. This isn’t only my opinion, but a lot of experts and scholars who found out the differences of people by nationality are saying the same thing.

Speaking of difference of people, the number one Korean newspaper called “Chosun Nilbo” reported on November 8 in their web news that ACT, which is an exam to get an enrollment for Universities in the US, became tight on South Korean people.

Please take a look at the attached image-1 below.

This is the history between ACT organization and South Korea. You can see so much cheating committed by South Koreans. Hahaha. Koreans are cheaters and liars so you shouldn’t be surprised by this. But ACT organization took first action ONLY against South Korea out of whole world to hold the exam only in one place under strict surveillance by the supervisor sent from the US headquarter. Hahaha. Before this regulation was made, ACT tests had been held in 26 places all over in South Korea.

According to the news, ACT organization trusted South Korean people at first, and let South Korean people to run the operation in South Korea. But the local ACT organization in South Korea always leaked the examination questions for money and no fair test could be done. So ACT decided to eliminate South Korean people from the operation and bring the examination paper by American supervisor from the headquarter to South Korea so that no Korean people can touch it until the day of the examination. If one Korean is involved in the operation, everything becomes corrupt. So this was a tailor made solution designed only for South Korean people.

Now, you might want to say “Don’t generalize Koreans!” Oh come on…. Knock it off! Hahaha. Even a gullible American organization is beginning to notice the difference of people by nationality. They must have had an idealism thinking that all East Asians were the same but they had had more than enough share of bad experiences with South Koreans and came to realize the difference and ended up to be in need of taking an action only against South Koreans. "Welcome to the real world!" Hahaha.

Not all people are the same but people differ by nationality because each country has a different common sense and standard, therefore your common sense and standard don’t work out to the people who came from outside of your country.

See? Mr. Donald Trump is an actualist like the members of ACT organization. He will take an action depending on each country and nationality.

However, I want to mention one thing to Mr. Trump as I am Japanese.

Please take a look at the attached image-2.

Mr. Trump said that the US allies were not paying enough for what they got. But Japan is different. Japan is the world number one country paying money for the US.

Japan's regular annual budget for US Army is about 2 billion dollars but there are more called "Omoiyari budget". Omoiyari means 'Thoughtful' in English. The thoughtful budget is nearly 5 billion dollars a year. The reason why the budget is being split into two is because the opposition parties in Japan are against paying a lot of money to US army. So the ruling party provides with a nominally regular budget and additional budget as an excuse to the opposition parties.

South Korea? Well, Mr. Trump might be correct. South Korea might not be paying enough money to US. It may be a time for US to demand more to South Korea since South Korea is the number one country in East Asia in dire need of US support against North Korean threats.

It’s becoming a long writing. So I’m going to stop here.

As I see those anti-Donald Trump people become violent in the US now, it is a Déjà vu for Japanese people as we find those anti-Japanese pedigree of Korean immigrants become violent when their unreasonable demands get rejected in Japan.

Mr. Trump hasn’t done anything yet. And I hope Anti-Trump people calm down soon.
