When I posted about Kansas University Document last time, I was giving a comment on the part of the document which was available on KU website, but this time I got the whole document and I could first time get to see everything. There were things I couldn’t understand but now I can.
Before explaining about this document, it is important for you to figure out under what condition KU professor Grant Goodman created the document.
Professor Goodman wasn’t pursuing Comfort Women at all nor was he specialized in Comfort Women. He just translated and documented about the amenities (entertainment) within Japanese Army during 2nd World War.
When the professor helped create this document 70 years ago, there wasn’t an issue of Comfort Women at all. It was only recently (in 90’s) the issue was fabricated by Korean immigrants in Japan, Korean people in South Korea, and Korean immigrants in the US. So the professor didn’t have any prejudice against Comfort Women. He didn’t know the prostitution business was going to be distorted into Sexual Slavery by Koreans in future so he wrote down everything as the matter of fact without eliminating the information that could eventually become inconvenient for Korean cheaters in future.
That being said, what kind of word was used to describe Comfort Women in the document is really interesting.
Throughout the document, the words “Prostitute” and “Brothel” are constantly used. None of the word in the document implies “enslaved” or “Slavery”.
Both Prostitute and Brothel represent a meaning of Business. It has nothing to do with Slavery.
You have to understand the difference between Slavery and a job (Prostitution).
When you voluntarily get a job and get paid, that is called “a job” (Prostitution).
But if you were forced to do something against your will with no choice left, that is called “Slavery”.
“Brothel” means a place for a commercial prostitution. You don’t call it a job when Korean soldiers committed Sexual Slavery of hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese women during Vietnam War and made 30,000 mix-blooded orphans born from the Vietnamese mothers who were gang-raped by South Korean soldiers. That is called a Sexual Slavery and war crime for sure.
Don’t misunderstand me. There was a word “Sexual Slavery” back then. As the matter of fact, there was a group of Japanese soldiers committed a sexual crime against Netherlander’s women in Sumatra Island of Indonesia during 2nd World War. And those stupid Japanese soldiers were sentenced to death at Far East Trial after 2nd World War for committing sexual slavery. It was an individual war crime. The trial was conducted by United Nation. And this KU document was shared by UN members. So it was obvious UN members were aware of the difference between the war crime of Sexual Slavery and benign prostitution business within Japanese Army. That’s why none of Japanese people was accused for running the brothels at Far East Trial. Prostitution was legal back then.
Now, let’s take a look at the document.
You can see the name of “command of General MacArther”. That’s Douglas MacArther of GHQ. So this document was shared by the members of United Nation.
This is a document from page 12.
You can see the price rate of brothel in Manila.
What I made a mistake last time was the price. I thought it was Dollar base but was actually Yen. 1 yen = 1 cent in today's currency therefore, 3 yen means 3 cents in today's rate. You think that’s not much money, right? Well, I will show you the evidence later how much money Comfort Women were earning. The topic will come up later.
See the Yellow lines.
“Those who commit violence through intoxication, those who annoy others and are dangerous, are strictly forbidden to use this brothel.”
Why there is a rule like that? It is a rule to protect the rights of Comfort Women.
It’s a totally different character from what Korean people ever testified about Sexual Slavery.
This is a document from page 13.
(1) “Unlicensed prostitutes will be strictly prohibited from doing their business”
That means even if Korean women wanted to do prostitution, without a license, they couldn’t do it. They had to acquire the license IF THEY WANTED TO DO PROSTITUTION. See? This is an evidence that there was a strong will to want to do prostitution by Korean or Chinese or Japanese women.
If this were sexual slavery, none of girls would be required to have a license because they were forced to do that. But because prostitution was a business, if one wanted to do that, then the one had to follow the rules to do what they wanted to do. It’s like becoming a pilot. Nobody is forcing you to become a pilot. But if you want to become a pilot, you have to get a commercial license and follow the rules. Prostitution was the same type of career that required a license and permission.
Obviously Korean and Chinese women were doing prostitution because that was what they wanted to do.
(2) “Prophylaxis and condoms will always be used in the brothel. If anyone is discovered not using them, the patron, the operator and prostitute will be severely punished”
Another evidence that it wasn’t “forced” or “Slavery”. Regulation is a hurdle that you have to jump over if you wish to do prostitution.
(3) “If a girl working in the brothel conducts herself improperly or acts in a manner contrary to regulations, she will be suspended or dismissed from her business.”
How about this? If she was a sexual slave, she wouldn’t have to behave or follow the rules because she was forced to do that one way or the other.
If she wanted to be released from being a Sexual slave, all she had to do was violating the rules, right? Then why they didn't try to violate the rules but instead chose to follow the rules? Because she wasn’t a sexual slave but a self-volunteered prostitute, she needed to behave and follow the rules in order to continue her "business". You know the difference between "business" and "slavery". And the document is clearly calling it "business".
(4) “Prostitutes found unfit by the medial officer will post a placard written ‘Unfit’ at the entrance to their rooms. They will rest and recuperate, and will be prohibited from making contacts until permission is granted”
Another evidence Comfort Women were not sexual slaves. Even if she wanted to continue her business, against her will, she needed to close her business until she was cured from sexual disease.
(5) “Anyone not using a condom will not be permitted contact”
Why there is a restriction and rule against Japanese soldiers who were allegedly accused of committing a sexual slavery?
If Japanese soldiers were committing a sexual slavery against Korean women, then who the hell would care about the rights of Korean women in the first place? See? Korean people made too much lies that anything they said has too much discrepancies in their words.
